‘23 Five-Star DL Lebbeus Overton Reclassifies in the Class of 2022

One of the top prospects in the Class of 2023 has announced that he will be reclassifying into the Class of 2022. Five-star defensive lineman Lebbeus Overton will forgo his senior season of football, and look to advance in his football career. This comes just a day after National Signing Day for the ‘22 Class.

Lebbeus Overton was the No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2023 behind Arch Manning. He is now the No. 18 overall recruit in the Class of 2022, and the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia. In his three seasons at Milton High School Overton amassed over 225 total tackles and 48 sacks. He has narrowed his list of 27 offers down to Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Ohio State and Texas A&M.

If he joins Texas A&M this would give them four five-star defensive linemen in the Class of 2022 alone. This is already the best recruiting class of All-Time since 247Sports has been tracking it. Four-stars Anthony Lucas, Malick Sylla & Enai White are also a part of this class making one heck of a defensive line. Jimbo Fisher wanted to send a message this offseason. He has proven to be one of the best recruiters in the nation this year, and I am sure his staff will be in full pursuit.

This will obviously be a huge get for whatever team lands him, but this seems like a battle Georgia needs to win. The Bulldogs are losing a lot of talent on the defensive line this offseason. Even more next year with players like Nolan Smith and Jalen Carter likely being draft highly in the 2023 Draft. After seeing what A&M just did in Texas I think Kirby Smart has a little bit of pressure to retain one of the best players in his home state. Oklahoma seems to be a team that could be on the shortlist too, but expect things to come down to A&M & Georgia.
