Anthony Hill Jr’s Announces His Top-Six Schools | Who is in the Lead?

Monday afternoon we got an update on the top schools of one of the top recruits in the Class of 2023. Anthony Hill announced his Top-Six schools via social media on his 17th birthday.

Anthony Hill is a five-star linebacker in the Class of 2023, and attends Denton Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. According to 247Sports Hill is The Denton Ryan Raiders have been one of the top schools in the state of Texas recently producing names like Ja’Tavion Sanders, Billy Bowman, Drew Sanders, and more.

On The Outside Looking In

Miami

From what I have heard, Miami pretty much isn’t even on this list. Mario Cristobal made a last minute call to the Hill family and squeezed his way into the Top 6. Anthony has a lot of family in the Miami area and playing in front of them is a unique factor. Cristobal has also been very good in the state of Texas during his time in Oregon. I wouldn’t be surprised if that could carry over to his time in Miami, and possibly take away one of the top players in the state once again.

Texas A&M

A&M has more traction than the Hurricanes currently do, but they are still probably 5th on this list. The Aggies offered Ant as a freshman and have maintained as much contact as they could over that time. They of course are coming off tons of momentum with the 2022 class that was extremely stacked on the defensive side. Anthony Hill could slide into a very talented defense early on but thus far that option seems on the back burner.

The Dark Horse

USC

USC probably does have just about as long of a shot as Texas A&M, but I have a feeling they could separate themselves. Of course if USC goes on to win the Pac-12, and possibly even make a CFB Playoff appearance, things could change. Lincoln Riley and the defensive staff have been in Hill’s ear often about a visit to check out the LA culture. NIL could give the Trojans an advantage over other schools as well with the opportunities in Los Angeles.

The Favorites

Alabama

Alabama is an obvious favorite because they are Alabama. They consistently produce high level linebackers and NFL prospects. Saban and the Crimson Tide staff have been hot on the Denton Ryan prospect since they have been able to focus on the Class of 2023. There isn’t too much to get into as like I said, it’s Alabama, of course they are a favorite.

Oklahoma

I have seen Anthony support Oklahoma very heavily off the field. During his unofficial visit to Norman in March of 2020 the Sooners offered Hill a scholarship. Since then we have seen a lot of major changes but all seem to favor an elite defensive talent like Ant. Oklahoma has had a strong presences in the Denton Ryan locker room in years past landing Billy Bowman, and being heavily involved in Austin Jordan’s recruitment.

Texas

Despite being from Texas, Anthony did not grow up a Longhorns fan but burnt orange has slowly grown on him. Texas has pursued Hill strongly thus far, and made a good impression. Steve Sarkisian and Hill Sr have been able to maintain great contact, and built a good relationship amongst each other. Sarkisian has done a good job at flipping the culture in Austin, and that is something that attracts Anthony. He also has former teammates Austin Jordan, and Ja’Tavion Sanders already down there too.
