Clemson Flips Four-Star CB Nathaniel Wiggins from LSU

Nate Wiggins Commits to Clemson

As current Clemson commit Andrew Mukuba put it “the rich get richer”.

Saturday night, as the LSU Tigers were pulling off the upset win over No. 6 Florida, they were losing off the field. Georgia native Nathaniel Wiggins announced he would be flipping his commitment from LSU to the University of Clemson.

Wiggins joins the nation’s No. 5 overall recruiting class for 2021 (No. 1 in the ACC). He is added to an already impressive defensive unit, something Clemson is accustomed too. Five-star outside linebacker and fellow Georgia native, Barrett Carter, and four-star inside linebacker, Jeremiah Trotter Jr, headline some of the commits Clemson has in 2021.

LSU loses out on the only cornerback commitment in their 2021 recruiting class. Earlier in the year the Clemson Tigers were on the other side of the fence with Jordan Hancock’s de-commitment, opening the door for Wiggins.

Dabo Swinney will be getting a very versatile athlete to work as Wiggins played receiver, cornerback and safety for Westlake High School. The Lions have had a great season thus far, advancing to the third round of the GHSA 6A Football Playoffs. He has been one of the most coveted defensive backs in the nation with offers from Alabama, Miami, Oregon and obviously LSU.

Though Wiggins is relatively new to the position many scouts and coaches love the potential he has as a defensive back. At Westlake he has shown plenty of ability to make people miss after getting the ball in his hands.
