Dalvin Cook & the Minnesota Vikings Agree on 5yr/$63M Extension

Dalvin Cook

All Dalvin Cook fantasy owners can now take a sigh of relief, and be along their way.

Literally minutes apart from Alvin Kamara’s 5yr/$75M mega-deal, the Minnesota Vikings and Dalvin Cook have agreed to terms on a large deal of their own. Cook will now be with Minnesota through the 2025 season, making $12.5M a season. That is tied with Derrick Henry for the 6th highest amongst running backs.

In his two and a half seasons with Minnesota Cook has rushed for 2,104 yards and 17 touchdowns while catching 104 passes for 941 yards and two touchdowns. Rick Spielman had mentioned many times that they would like to get a deal done because of Cook’s importance to the team and community.

Dalvin Cook was the Vikings 2nd round pick back in 2017 out of Florida State. I had Cook as the second best running back in the class, behind Leonard Fournette, and a 1st round grade on him.

The Vikings offense relies heavily on the talents that Dalvin Cook brings to the table. Locking him in for the foreseeable future is huge, and at somewhat of a steal as well. Kamara signed a $15M/yr deal just minutes after Cook’s was announced. Currently I view Cook as a top five running back, right outside the McCaffrey, Barkley, Elliott conversation. After giving such an unfulfilled contract to Kirk Cousins, I am sure the Minnesota front office is very excited over Cook’s extension.
