Devonta Smith Lets Loose! | Alabama Washes Ohio State 52-24

We finally made it; the big finale.  The College Football Playoff National Championship featuring the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes. This game doesn’t just feature a plethora of future NFL talent, this game has three Heisman finalists in it too.

Our night would start off with the ball in the hands of Justin Fields and the Buckeyes. Trey Sermon would be slammed to the ground on his only carry of the night, and injure his shoulder on the play. The injury was bad enough to send Sermon to the hospital for further testing.

The Crimson Tide would be able to force a three and out on the Buckeyes first drive of the game. After the punt Mac Jones and Najee Harris would lead a 12-play drive to bring out the first points of the game. Harris scored on a one yard goal line punch.

Ohio State and Justin Fields looked rusty for the first quarter. They wouldn’t be able to score until very late in the first quarter. Mac Jones fumbled the ball while being sacked, giving the Buckeyes a chance to take the lead. Master Teague would get his second touchdown of the night a few plays later.

Alabama would unleash Devonta Smith after that score though. The 2021 Heisman winner would record six catches in the first quarter alone. He would finish the half with 12 catches, 215 yards and three touchdowns. Those would all be FBS Championship game records and he only needed half a game to break them. The Crimson Tide would finish the half with a 42-yard strike to DeVonta Smith, giving them a 35-17 lead.

Unfortunately the second half wouldn’t get much prettier for Ohio State. Fields would connect on a beautiful pass to Garrett Wilson, but that would be the last time they scored in the game. Devonta Smith would leave the game with an index finger injury, but that Crimson Tide offense continued to Roll. Before the game would end Najee Harris would find himself a third touchdown, and Alabama would finish with 52 points on the night.

Nick Saban would surpass the great Bear Bryant with his seventh National Championship title. As expected the Offensive MVP would go to Devonta Smith, and Christian Barmore won the Defensive MVP. Mac Jones would finish with 464 passing yards and five touchdowns on the night. Overall it was an offensive onslaught in Miami, as the Alabama Crimson Tide captured the 2021 CFB National Championship.
