Dwayne Haskins Agrees to a One-Year Deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Dwayne Haskins

On December 28th the Washington Football Team released their former first-round pick Dwayne Haskins. This move came after Haskins had been photographed mask-less at a party. He had also made a few other poor decisions up until that point as well.

Haskins reportedly charged for people to enter his NFL Draft party, attempted bring an outsider into the teams hotel, and has struggled to pick up the playbook. After being thrown in and out of the starting line-up, Washington decided it would be best to move on from the former Buckeye QB.

However it looks like he isn’t completely out of the NFL just yet. The Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a one-year deal with Haskins. This would seemingly be Haskins last chance to prove himself as a starting quarterback in the NFL. Ben Roethlisberger struggled mightly this season and possibly has one more year left in his arm.

Back in 2019 Haskin was the 15th overall pick by the then Washington Redskins. Owner Dan Snyder played a big role in Haskins landing with the team. Haskins started and was benched two separate times during his time with Washington. While at Ohio State he threw for 50 touchdowns and just over 4,800 yards for whatever reason Haskins has struggled to pick up the offense.

Even though the Steelers started off as one of the best teams in the league, they would be washed by the Browns in the first round. Injuries plagued the team late in the season, and are a being reason why Pittsburgh couldn’t fight for a title this season.
