Five-Star OT Kelvin Banks Commits to the University of Oregon

Kelvin Banks

The Oregon Ducks are fresh off landing four-star offensive tackle Cameron Williams, but they arent done invading Texas just yet. On July 4th five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks announced that he will be committing to the University of Oregon too.

Kelvin Banks is a 6’5, 300-pound offensive tackle from Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas. Currently 247Sports has him ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle, and the No. 15 player overall in the Class of ‘22. He is a top-five recruit in the state of Texas, and is one of the top-ten highest rated recruits to ever commit to Oregon.

He held offers from 24 schools across the nation. Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma were just a few of the teams that offered Banks a scholarship. He took his visits with Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma State, Texas and Texas A&M during June. He said that the combination between getting a good degree, being developed, and having a good support system; Oregon was home.

This now gives the Oregon Ducks five commitments from the state of Texas. Four-stars Nicholas Anderson and Cameron Williams both committed to the Ducks just three days ago. Three-star wide receiver Stephon Johnson has been committed to the Ducks since the end of March. The Ducks had a very strong 2021 class, and the ’22 cycle looks to be just as strong. If Mario Cristobal can continue bringing in elite talent from outside the west coast we could finally see a Pac-12 team get back into the college football playoff.
