Four-Star ATH, Billy Bowman, Decommits from the University of Texas

Billy Bowman Jr

Less than a week after a shocking 33-31 loss to unranked TCU, the Longhorns have lost one of their top recruits in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Billy Bowman, a four star athlete from Denton Ryan High School, tweeted out Wednesday night that he will be decommitting from the school and re-opening his recruitment.

This is a big hit for the Longhorns, dropping their class ranking all the way to 17th. 247Sports ranks Bowman as the No. 3 athlete in the country, and the 6th best player in the state of Texas. Ja’Tavion Sanders is currently Texas’ top recruit in the 2021 cycle, and is Billy Bowman’s teammate at Denton Ryan High School.

Both Sanders and Bowman seemed like a package deal at the beginning of the recruiting process, so could that mean a Ja’Tavion Sanders decommitment could be looming as well? Seems like that is unlikely, but only time could tell.

To make matters even worse for Texas Longhorns fans, Bowman is now considered an Oklahoma Sooners lean. One factor that some might not consider is the fact that Billy Bowman’s girlfriend, Jayda Coleman, is committed to the University of Oklahoma for softball.
