Jadeveon Clowney Traded to the Seattle Seahawks

The Houston Texan’s have come to an agreement with the Seahawks to ship star outside linebacker, Jadeveon Clowney, to Seattle earlier Saturday morning. Houston will receive a 3rd round pick, passer rusher Barkevious Mingo and linebacker Jacob Martin.

Ironically enough, the Seahawks were able to have flexibility with their draft picks from their trade with the Chiefs involving Frank Clark. Clark was franchise tagged by Seattle before being traded away for a 2019 1st round pick (L.J. Collier), and a 2020 2nd round selection.

The Houston Texans franchise tagged the elite edge rusher earlier this March, hoping they could come to an agreement on a long term deal with Clowney. While this kept him out of the free agent waters, he has held out from the teams off season programs.

The former 1st overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft will be 26 years old heading into this season, giving the Seahawks an elite edge rusher in his prime. Clowney looks to be one of the final pieces the Seahawks need to bring their defense back to the way it looked in 2013.

Once this trade becomes official, the Seahawks front seven will be as talented as it might have ever been. With names like Bobby Wagner, a 4x Pro Bowl linebacker, K.J. Wright, one of the most under rated OLBs in the NFL, and Jarran Reed, Seattle should have one of the best run defenses in the NFL. Not to mention Reed also recorded 10.5 sacks in 2018 and Seattle added Ziggy Ansah in the off season.
