Joe Burrow Suffers a Season Ending Left Knee Injury

Joe Burrow

The Washington Football Team took on the Cincinnati Bengals at FedEx Field this Sunday in a very close match up. Washington was set up nicely from a 42-yard reception from Terry McLaurin towards the end of the first quarter. Antonio Gibson would rush for the one-yard touchdown, giving them a 7-0 lead.

Cincinnati wouldn’t go away though. Joe Burrow started the first quarter looking sharp, throwing for 199 yards on 13 of 17 pass attempts. In the second quarter Burrow connected with A.J. Green on a short pass in the endzone. Bullock would miss the extra point bringing the game to 7-6. Even though he missed his first two kicks, Randy Bullock would give the Bengals the lead before halftime on a 53-yard field goal before halftime.

Things would start to go downhill very quickly for Cincinnati though. All Bengals fan’s worst nightmare would come to reality after a nasty hit was placed on Joe Burrow. Early in the second quarter Burrow took a hit to his lower legs, causing him to be carted off the field.

Within minutes of the injury Burrow was ruled out for the rest of the game. Tons of Bengals players came to check on their quarterback before being carted off. Washington players, and former Ohio State teammates, Chase Young and Terry Mclaurin also came to meet Burrow.

Initial testing has the Bengals believing in an ACL and MCL injury. After the game Joe Burrow would send out a tweet essentially confirming he will miss the rest of the season. We should find out more about the injury tomorrow after further testing.

All season he has taken big hits, and this game was no different. Early in the first quarter Chase Young would lay out the No. 1 overall pick, causing him to fumble at the goal line. In his first nine games with the Bengals he had been hit 72 total times. That tied Daniel Jones for the most hits for a rookie in the past 20 years.
