LA Rams Trade Jared Goff & Two 1st Round Picks for Matthew Stafford

It finally happened, Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions have parted ways. Last week it broke that Stafford had finally requested a trade, thus ending the Matthew Stafford era in Detroit. As you could imagine many teams called to offer for Stafford, but one of the surprising teams calling for QBs was the Rams. Los Angeles ended up being serious, pulling the trigger and trading for the ex-Lion’s QB.

Late Saturday night Ian Rapoport broke the news that the Los Angeles Rams had just completed a trade for Matthew Stafford. The Rams agreed to trade their 2022 and 2023 1st round picks, as well as a 2021 3rd round pick. Oh and Jared Goff too.

That is right, the Rams and Lions are swapping quarterbacks. Jared Goff will be suiting up for the Detroit Lions as they attempt to rebuild their roster. As for Matthew Stafford, he finally gets a capable roster with solid coaching. Sean McVay has done wonders for Jared Goff, and is one of the brightest offensive minds in football. Matthew Stafford has suffered for many years in Detroit, and is one of the league’s most undervalued quarterbacks.

The Lions now have five first round picks over the next three years to build this roster back up. They currently have a Top 10 pick this year, and most likely will have a Top 5 pick next year. Jared Goff looks to be getting the short end of the stick here, but who knows, maybe the Lions new management turns things around. Goff is only 26 years old and has shown potential in his young career.

Both teams look to have come out of this deal happy, and excited for the future. Only time will tell who really won this trade. Until then though we will just have to wait and see how it plays out.
