Ohio State OL, Wyatt Davis, Opts Out of the 2020-21 CFB Season

Wyatt Davis

As the Big Ten and the student athletes battle back and forth between a fall or spring opening for Big Ten football, one of the best NFL prospects in the Big Ten has made his decision already. Ohio State offensive guard, Wyatt Davis, announced via Twitter that he will be opting out of this season to prepare for the NFL Draft.

Wyatt started all 14 games for the Buckeyes last year, earning himself a bid on the AP first-team All-American team, and was listed as an AP preseason All-American for 2020. The 6’4, 315-pound offensive guard possesses all the tools you would like to see in an early round NFL prospect.

“I should be in the middle of preparing for our game this week. Instead, due to the events of 2020, I spent the last weeks with my family and coaching staff trying to determine my future” – Wyatt Davis

I currently have Wyatt ranked in my Top 32 prospects for the 2021 NFL Draft, and could be the top interior offensive lineman in this class. Even with just one season under his belt, Davis more than likely would have been a high draft pick in the 2020 NFL Draft but chose to return and compete for another national title.

Wyatt Davis was selected to the Big Ten 2010’s All Decade team with just one year starting, so this is obviously a huge loss to the Ohio State offensive line. They did return two other starters in center Josh Myers and left tackle Thayer Munford but Davis was by far the leader of the offensive line.
