Three-Star WR Jalen Walthall Commits to the University of Hawaii

The University of Hawaii picked up a late addition to their 2021 recruiting class Monday evening. Three-star wide receiver Jalen Walthall announced via social media that he will be committing to the Rainbow Warriors. Hawaii has made a strong push in the Lonestar state to steal some of the more under the radar talent.

Jalen Walthall is a three-star wide receiver from Manvel High School in Manvel, Texas.  He helped the Mavericks to a 9-2 record, and made it to the 5A-II Semi-FInals. Recently Hawaii offered Wathall after an impressive run during the 7v7 circuit. Jalen held 14 offers including schools like Wyoming, ACU, and Tulane.

Back in late January the Rainbow Warriors added Denton Ryan star defensive back Ty Marsh. After decommitting from the University of Houston, Marsh decided to fly west and enjoy the Hawaii beaches. Marsh isn’t the only North Texas recruit that is heading to Manoa. Jordan Johnson, Nate Adams and Brayden Schager are all also committed to the school.

While the overall recruiting class might not rank high; Hawaii’s offense is extremely wide receiver friendly. New head coach Todd Graham went 5-4 in his first season since 2017. Chevan Cordeiro is returning as a redshirt junior and should have this offense moving better than last season. Things could be on the turn around in Manoa and bringing in some Texas talent is a good way to do so.
