University of Georgia Lands Jaheim Singletary | No. 5 Overall CB in ‘22

Jaheim Singletary

In the beginning of August we saw five-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary announce his decommitment from Ohio State University. This was a somewhat shocking move as the Buckeyes were carrying a lot of momentum in their ‘22 recruiting class. Nonetheless this was fresh off the dead period being lifted, thus making a lot of athletes rethink their decisions.

Wednesday afternoon the Florida prospect announced his decision on a new home. On his grandmother’s birthday Singletary announced that he will be committing to the University of Georgia. This now gives the Bulldogs 23 commitments for the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Jaheim Singletary is a five-star cornerback out of Jacksonville, Florida. He plays for Riverside High School and is listed at 6’2, 170-pounds. According to 247Sports he is a top-20 prospect in the Class of 2022 and the No. 3 prospect in Florida.

He joins plenty of defensive talent already linked with the Bulldogs. Bear Alexander, Mykel Williams, and Malaki Starks are all  on the defensive side of the ball and some of the best prospects for Georgia currently. It is no surprise that they have been able to convince so many defensive recruits to commit considering the historic defensive unit they currently have.

The size that Singletary brings is something that Bulldog fans have to love. After seeing receivers like Ja’Marr Chase, DeVonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Kadarius Toney tear up defenses it is just that much more crucial to have a lockdown corner. Mix that with all the pressure that the front seven should continuously bring, and that’ll make the secondary’s lives a lot more fun.
