About Nick

    The Bosa family is full of great athletes, and Nick is no different. His father John was a first round pick in 1987, and his brother Joey was the 3rd overall pick in 2016. Playing at St. Thomas Aquinas, Nick became ESPN’s #1 defensive end, and a 5 star recruit by many. Once committing to Ohio State, Nick played in 29 games for the Buckeyes and recorded 29 sacks. He hardly had to play in 2018 to let the nation know he should be the 1st overall player in the 2019 NFL Draft. He did miss most of the 2018 due to a core injury that required surgery, but still managed to get 6 sacks and a handful more of quarterback pressures in his 3 games he did play in.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

Bosa already has elite pass rushing skills as a college athlete. Much like Joey, Nick is twitchy off the edge and has a powerful ripping motion. He uses an excellent combination of bull rush and his hands to stunt most offensive tackles off guard. I have seen Bosa get after the quarterback moving outside the tackle, inside the tackle, or even just straight through the tackle.

Weaknesses

My biggest concern on Bosa would be his health. While he only had one injury, it was enough to take him out for most of this season. Many believe this was a smart move to prepare for the NFL, but a red flag is a red flag and his brother and father have also had injury issues in their professional career. Something pretty minor to consider, but overall still something to keep an eye on for his career.

If by some unforeseen decision happen with the 1st pick, there is no way that the 49ers pass on Bosa with the 2nd. He could be the best player in this draft class, and will most likely be the 1st pick taken in the 2019 Draft. If you want to see just how dominant Nick can be; just pull up his tape vs USC in the Cotton Bowl last year. The Cardinals could pair Bosa up with two pass rushing veterans like Suggs and Chandler Jones to form a very menacing pass rush for NFL offenses.

Do I really even need to do this one?  It might be a boring answer, or considered the “easy way out”, but Nick is a clone of Joey Bosa. When watching Nick and Joey at Ohio State it is almost impossible to tell the difference between the two. Though Nick has a quicker burst, it’s not by much, and while Joey has better use of his hands, it also isn’t by much. Though he reminds me of his brother, Nick Bosa will be making a name for himself soon enough come Sundays.
