LSU got some last minute help for their 2021 recruiting class this afternoon. Four-star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr announced at a brief commitment ceremony that he will be committing to LSU.
Thomas had kept his decision a complete secret until his announcement. Even head coach Ed Orgeron didn’t know Brian Thomas had chosen LSU. Even close friends didn’t know his decision till it was announced on the big screen at the ceremony.
Brian Thomas Jr plays for Walker High School in Walker, Louisiana. He gives the Tigers some size to their receiver core standing 6’4 and weighing 190-pounds. According to 247Sports Thomas is the fourth best player in Louisiana and the 13th overall wide out.
The Tigers have locked down Louisiana’s recruiting trails and this year was no different. Thomas’ commitment gives LSU the top 4 players in the state and six of the top 10. His top three final schools were Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M.
This now pushes LSU’s 2021 recruiting class to 3rd in the nation behind Alabama and Ohio State. He joins fellow four-star receivers Chris Hilton, Deion Smith, and Jack Bech. Five-stars Sage Ryan and Maason Smith headline LSU’s 2021 class. Flower Mound Marcus quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, is a four-star prospect as well.
