Things are already starting to get rolling for the 2023 recruiting class. Texas has put together an impressive recruiting class for 2022, and that has already got ‘23 recruits interested. Reuben Owens announced late last night that the will be committing to the University of Texas.
Rueben Owens is a 5’11, 187-pound running back from El Campo High School. He is currently a four-star prospect and the No. 2 running back in the Class of 2023. Not only is Rueben Owens a standout running back; he is a sprinter for the Ricebirds track team. This is the Longhorns first commitment to their 2023 recruiting class, and gives Texas even more upside for their future.
The Longhorns landed Owens over schools like Georgia, LSU and most importantly, Oklahoma. The Sooners were considered a favorite to land Owens but once Steve Sarkisian was named HC the Longhorns were able to secure his commitment. Jaydon Blue, a four-star running back in the Longhorns 2022 class, has taken over as the lead recruiter for Texas.
