Florida Atlantic made a big splash in the 2021 recruiting pool Monday evening with the verbal commitment of 4-star QB Shedeur Sanders. 247Sports has Sanders ranked as the 14th best pro style quarterback in the Class of 2021, and is the 41st best player in the country according to ESPN.
Shedeur Sanders is the youngest son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, and looks to head back to the state where his father played his college ball. Florida.
During his junior campaign Sanders threw for 3,477 yards, 47 touchdowns and just four interceptions. As a sophomore he threw for 3,088 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
The 4-star QB chose Florida Atlantic over 25 other offers, including his father’s alma mater Florida State, Alabama, and Baylor. He is 27-1 as the starting quarterback for Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, TX and has already won back to back Division II state titles.
Ironically, Sanders will look to battle Willie Tarrgart Jr, son of the current FAU head coach, whenever he gets to Boca Raton. Shedeur Sanders is the highest rated recruit in Florida Atlantic history, and looks to join University of Miami transfer, Michael Irvin Jr. FAU has a total of 18 commitments for 2021, but Sanders is their only 4-star currently.
