Over the past few seasons the Oregon Ducks have tried, and failed at recruiting elite wide receiver talent to the university, but the drought is over. Late Friday night (or 22 minutes into Saturday if you’re in Texas like me) we saw Oregon pick up a commitment from 5-star wide receiver Troy Franklin.
The No. 6 WR in the Class of 2021 announced via Twitter that he would be committing to the University of Oregon. He chose the Ducks over teams like Alabama, Washington, and Arizona State. Behind ‘04 commit Cameron Colvin, Troy Franklin is the 2nd highest-rated wide receiver to commit to Oregon.
Franklin is a 6’2, 170-pound receiver out of Menlo Park, California and plays football at Menlo-Atherton High School. His long frame, solid hands, and game changing speed earns him comparison’s to CeeDee Lamb. He is the No. 31 overall player in the Class of 2021, and the 2nd best player in the state of California.
“I like what they are doing with the program, I think it’s on the verge of a natty.” -Troy Franklin on why he chose Oregon
Franklin will be joining the No. 6 pro-style quarterback in the nation, Ty Thompson out of Gilbert, Arizona. Bringing in a 5-star talent pushes the Ducks recruiting class to 2nd in the Pac-12, and puts them right on the trail of USC.
