Adam Schefter hurt the hearts of many Philly fans this afternoon saying Andre Dillard had torn his biceps muscle, and will likely need season ending surgery on it sometime next week. Dillard was projected to be the Philadelphia Eagles starting left tackle this year before this injury.
Andre Dillard was the Eagles first round selection back in 2019 out of Washington State, and started in four games his rookie season. While he had his moments, Dillard also had his fair share of rookie struggles too.
The Eagles are currently forced to throw in a former rugby player from Australia by the name of Jordan Mailata as Dillard’s replacement. Either that or move back Jason Peters to offensive tackle after freshly naming him the starting offensive guard.
This would make for the second starting offensive lineman the Philadelphia Eagles would be without after Brandon Brooks ruptured his achilles. Head coach Doug Pederson noted players like Jack Driscoll, Jordan Mailata, and Matt Pryor will be in the mix to move into the starting role. If that doesn’t work they won’t hesitate to sign someone from free agency.
At some point we’ve got to trust our players. As coaches we trust our guys and it’s our job to coach them up and get them prepared to help them, not only in practice but in game situations and that’s what we’re going to do.
