In shocking fashion the Baltimore Ravens announced Sunday that they are terminating their contract with seven-time Pro Bowl safety, Earl Thomas. This comes just two days after a reported altercation between Thomas and Raven’s strong safety Chuck Clark.
The Ravens are terminating the contract due to personal conduct that has adversely affected the team. This would void his $10 million owed in guaranteed salary for 2020-21. It is believed Thomas will dispute this claim in order to reclaim some of those guarantees.
Hours after his release was reported, so we’re a bunch of other reports flooded in from him being late to practices, to him missing meetings to get his car washed.
Thomas has since posted and deleted a handful of social media posts regarding the situation. This now is the second time the 7x Pro Bowl safety has left a franchise on bad terms, and many wonder what teams will want to sign him after what has come out.
Of course he will be signed at some point. He’s Earl Thomas. The Dallas Cowboys remain the front runners for his talents, along with the Chargers and 49ers. In his only season with the Ravens Thomas finished with 49 total tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery.
