The University of Texas had a rough October, and it looks like November isn’t starting off any better. After suffering back to back losses to TCU and Oklahoma, the Longhorns lost a slew of commitments. One of those was the nation’s No. 3 athlete, Billy Bowman.
Just a few weeks after decommitting from the Longhorns the Denton Ryan prospect announced where his new home would be. You might want to sit down if you’re a Longhorn fan (or just pick a new team).
This now gives the Sooners the 12th best recruiting class for the Class of 2021, and right on the tail of Notre Dame. He joins the nation’s top dual-threat quarterback in Caleb Williams, as well as Clayton Smith and Mario Williams. It also helps that his girlfriend is going to play softball at Oklahoma too.
According to Mike Roach, Billy Bowman was wanting to be used on the offensive side of the ball rather than the defensive side of the ball. Obviously being the offensive mind that Lincoln Riley is, it is easy to understand why he would choose the Sooners.
Bowman was committed to the University of Texas for over a year before he decided to reopen his recruitment. He said that Oklahoma checks all his boxes and felt that he committed to Texas too early in the recruitment process.
