It is safe to say that Blake Jarwin ‘s 2020-21 season ended a lot shorter than most would have hoped. After playing just 25 snaps in Sunday night’s season opener, the newly named starter went down with a torn ACL.
The Dallas Cowboys finally moved on from Jason Witten after 15 years with the team this offseason, and Jarwin’s down the field ability was a big reason for it. They also re-upped his contract with a 3yr/$24.25M extension this offseason. Most NFL experts expected a big year from the former un-drafted free agent.
Dallas signed Blake Jarwin after the 2017 NFL Draft after having a decently productive career at Oklahoma State. In his three seasons with Oklahoma State he had 41 receptions for 616 yards and five touchdowns. Jarwin was voted to the first team (2015) and second team All-Big 12 team (2016) in his career as well.
The injury bug has been running through the Dallas Cowboys locker room in recent weeks. Gerald McCoy suffered a ruptured quad muscle during the Cowboys first padded practice, La’el Collins and Sean Lee have both found their way to the IR, and Leighton Vander Esch is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery on his collarbone. The Cowboys also lost Cameron Erving during the game against the Rams and was placed on IR along with Vander Esch and Jarwin.
