Camar Wheaton Commits to the University of Alabama

Camar Wheaton

Add one more of Texas’ top high school recruits to the 2021 Alabama recruiting class. The nation’s No. 2 RB according to 247Sports, Camar Wheaton, just announced he will be committing to the Crimson Tide.

Wednesday afternoon Wheaton took to Twitter, saying this was the “toughest decision of his life”, and joined Alabama’s No. 1 recruiting class. The Crimson Tide haven’t had a running back in the class till now, but this makes for the third year in a row an ESPN300 running back has landed in Tuscaloosa.

Camar Wheaton is the No. 2 running back in the class of 2021, and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Texas. Coming in at 5’11, 190-pounds, Wheaton compares similarly to another former Texas stud in Ronald Jones II. He held offers from everywhere you could imagine, including Georgia, Ohio State, Notre Dame and of course the University of Texas

Wheaton’s decision came down to Oklahoma or Alabama and was considered an Oklahoma lean by many. This situation was very similar to last year when Saban flipped Jase McClellan at the last minute from Oklahoma. McClellan was a four-star running back for Aledo High School alongside another ‘21 Bama commit in Jojo Earle

Nick Saban has been busy in the Lone-Star state this recruiting class with six recruits being from Texas. According to 247Sports the Tide have the No. 1, No. 4 No. 10, No. 13, No. 24, & No. 32 in the state of Texas. The Crimson Tide are inching closer and closer to not just their best recruiting class in school history, but the best recruiting class ever formed.
