Cedar Hill High School Beats Aledo High School 27-17

Cedar Hill High School vs Aledo High School

Aledo High School vs Cedar Hill High School. A non-conference showdown between two of the best football programs in the state of Texas. As if that wasn’t enough, this was also Aledo’s homecoming game. Even during a pandemic, that wouldn’t stop this game from selling out and living up to the hype.

Cedar Hill and Aledo both come into this matchup ranked No. 12 & No. 13 in Texas respectfully. They also both have star four-star prospects on the offensive side of the ball. Jojo Earle, Aledo’s star wide receiver, is the No. 12 wide receiver in the nation, as well as the 12th best player in the state. Cedar Hill’s offense is led by Kaidon Salter who is the No. 7 overall dual threat quarterback in the Class of 2021.

Salter would get things started off for Cedar Hill with a crazy fourth down completion to Julian Austin that would end up being a touchdown. The Longhorns defense would carry that momentum and keep the Aledo’s offense in check for most of the first half.

Even offensive linemen were getting in on the action for the Longhorns. As Cedar Hill looked to take a two score lead, Kaidon Salter’s pass was tipped at the goal line and caught by their offensive tackle Miquel Massey Jr. The refs would review, and confirm the touchdown, but Cedar Hill would botch their extra point kick giving them a 13-3 lead.

JoJo Earle wouldn’t let the Bearcats slip too deep into a hole though. After multiple impressive grabs from the LSU commit, the Aledo would find themselves inside the redzone. With just 40 seconds left in the half, DeMarco Roberts would rush the ball into the endzone, cutting into the Longhorns lead. We would see both teams head into the locker room with a score of 13-10, Cedar Hill lead.

The Bearcats would continue to ride Earle’s hot hand(s), as he would nearly single handedly carry Aledo down the field. Big play after big play, they would march down the field. Finally DeMarco Roberts would bust off another solid rush, getting into the endzone for the second time tonight.

Suddenly you could feel the momentum switch over to the Bearcats hands. Aledo’s Caden Anderson turned on the gas and was pressuring Salter most of the quarter. He sacked the Tennessee commit twice and forced the Longhorns to a turnover on downs.

With four minutes left in the game, Aledo had a chance to steal a win from Cedar Hill but unfortunately threw an interception. Kaidon Salter would show us why he is one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation. He would have two very big rushes to help keep the ball in the Longhorns hands and run out the clock. To put the game out of reach, Kevin Young would break off a big run and put Cedar Hill up 27-17 with a minute and a half in the game.

Kaidon Salter finished the night with 241 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and another 128 yards on the ground. Brian Ranney led the way for Cedar Hill with six catches for 80 yards.

Jojo Earle had six catches for 67 yards and 27 yards rushing for Aledo. DeMarco Roberts had 16 carries on the night for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
