Cedar Hill Moves to 7-1 as They Beat Midway High School 58-7

Cedar Hill and Kaidon Salter

It was Kaidon Salter’s last regular season game with the Cedar Hill Longhorns and he wasn’t going to leave without a bang. The future Tennessee Vol was on a mission tonight vs Waco Midway High School.

Midway would get the game started kicking off to Cedar Hill, and the Longhorns offense would catch fire quickly. Within the opening two minutes of the game Cedar Hill had already taken a 7-0 lead over the Panthers. Kaidon Salter completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Earnie Moore. Waco Midway would get a chance to retaliate back, but end up punting the ball back very shortly after getting it.

The next touchdown wouldn’t come again until the very end of the first quarter. Cedar Hill put together a quick drive, and moved the ball over 75 yards in just three minutes. Salter would connect with Julian Austin, an Oklahoma Baptist University commit, from 14-yards out. Midway would get the ball back as time expires in the first quarter.

After nearly opening the second quarter with a punt, the Cedar Hill Longhorns began to smell blood. In just two minutes Kaidon Salter would score his third touchdown of the night after a long run set the Longhorns up inside the Panthers 25-yard line.

Down 21-0, the Midway offense finally would show some life after a long pass from Garrett Childers to Nick Veloz for 47-yards. The Panthers were moving into the Longhorns redzone with four minutes left in the half. Unfortunately for Midway, they would fumble the ball and have it recovered by the Longhorns (Stefan Ingram). Cedar Hill would take over at their own 24-yard line.

Just like they have been doing all game, Cedar Hill took advantage of their opportunity. With under three minutes in the half the Longhorns began to drive. With just seconds left in the half, Kaidon Salter would complete his third touchdown pass of the night on another 23-yard connection to Julian Austin. Cedar Hill would take a 28-0 lead into halftime.

Things wouldn’t get any better for Midway High School in the second half though. After receiving the kick off to start the second half, Stefan Ingram would quickly come up with his second fumble recovery of the night. The very next play Julian Austin would score his third touchdown of the night on a 16-yard run. Cedar Hill wouldn’t stop there though, recovering another fumble the very next drive. This time Ryan Robinson would come up with the turnover. Fortunately the Panthers were able to force a punt, seemingly stopping the bleeding for a moment.

At this point Cedar Hill’s back ups would start to come in, but still continue the pressure. Back up QB Cedric Harden Jr would get in on the action with a 41-yard scamper of his own. The Longhorns would be able to pin the Panthers inside their own five-yard line and force a safety the next play. Due to the safety, Midway would kick the ball back to Cedar Hill, and the Longhorns would take the ball 75-yards to the house. Just five minutes into the second half and Cedar Hill would push the lead to 51-0.

As you might imagine, the game was completely over after that run, and Cedar Hill would run the clock away. Midway High School was able to complete a 23-yard touchdown pass to Zach Stewart, giving the Panthers their first points of the night. The game would end with a final score of 65-7, as the Cedar Hill Longhorns move to 7-1 on the year.

Cedar Hill’s offense had a season high 58 points thanks to Salter and Austin’s early domination. Kaidon Salter had a monster of a game with four total touchdowns and over 300 yards of total offense. The Longhorns will look to take on Bryan High School on December 11th to start off the 6A Texas High School Playoffs!
