Trevon Moehrig
It would take a little bit of a fall for Moehrig to be on the board at 28. Either way though he should be a player high on the Saints draft board, and would be very happy to take him if he falls. New Orleans could use some help within their secondary and currently have Marcus Williams on a franchise tag. Drafting Moehrig will give them cap space flexibility and possibly even an upgrade at the position.
Alex Leatherwood
Ryan Ramczyk is in the final year of his contract, and might be on a new team soon. The New Orleans Saints have such a rough cap situation it’ll be tricky to sign a guy like Ramczyk. He has been one of, if not the best right tackle in football the past few seasons. If he walks, having a guy like Leatherwood would be great insurance. Alex Leatherwood can also still provide reps at offensive guard his rookie year as well.
Sam Ehlinger
If Sean Payton truly thinks what he does of Taysom Hill I think he would love Sam Ehlinger. They have very similar skill sets and I think Sam is already a better passer than Hill. Ehlinger is a great leader, and has led the Texas Longhorns for four seasons. He has over 11,000 career passing yards and has rushed for over 30 touchdowns. Sean Payton could hopefully put him under his wing along side with professionals like Jamies Winston and develop him into a NFL QB.
Tutu Atwell
Tutu Atwell is a name that has lost a tad bit of steam but that might favor the Saints. Emmanuel Sanders is now on the Bills and Michael Thomas is back to being double teamed 95% of the time. Tutu Atwell gives the Saints a receiver to take the pressure off Thomas. He has great speed, and should fill a very similar role to what Sanders did coming into the NFL.
Jaylen Twyman
I am personally really high on Twyman and think he could even be a late 1st round pick. Realistically though he probably will be a Round 2 to 3 selection. Jaylen Twyman was able to record 10.5 sacks in 2019 but opted out of the 2020 season. For that reason I believe NFL teams are slightly forgetting about Twyman’s dominance in 2019. New Orleans lost Sheldon Rankins to the New York Jets and will need to replace his interior presence.
