In the midst of an extremely busy day of college recruiting news; we have even more news. Five-star athlete Sam McCall just announced his commitment to Florida State. The Seminoles have started off extremely well in the Class of ’22, and look to turn the culture around ASAP in Tallahassee.
Coming out of Lakeland, Florida Sam McCall plays for Lake Gibson High School. The Braves went 11-2 this year and made it to the Regional Finals. McCall is listed as 6’0, 180-pounds, and is currently the No. 6 player in the state of Florida. He is listed as an athlete and plays multiple positions for the Braves, but will most likely be a safety for the Seminoles.
Sam McCall was actually committed to the Florida Gators until the start of 2021. On January 1st he announced his decision to de-commit from the Gators. After coaching changes to the Florida staff, McCall felt best to back off his pledge. Alabama, Kentucky and Penn State were amongst some of the 14 schools that offered him. His final four schools were Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida and Florida State.
The Seminoles now have a top-10 recruiting class and two five-star defensive backs in ‘22. Within the ACC Florida State actually holds the No. 1 recruiting class of 2022, over Clemson and North Carolina. Sam McCall now joins the nation’s top cornerback in Travis Hunter and four-star quarterback Nicco Marchiol. In Mike Norvell’s first recruiting class he has already landed two five-stars and two four-stars. In other words it looks like it’ll be a good one for the Seminoles.
