Five-Star OT Michael Fasusi Commits to the Oklahoma Sooners

The University of Oklahoma has landed a monumental addition to its football program with the commitment of five-star offensive lineman Michael Fasusi. Fasusi, a towering presence at 6’5″ and 290 pounds out of Lewisville, Texas, is ranked as high as the No. 9 overall recruit in the class by ESPN. He has been pursued by several powerhouse programs, including Texas A&M, Oregon, and Texas. Despite the intense competition, the allure of playing for the Sooners and the connection he felt with the coaching staff guided his choice.

The timing of Fasusi’s commitment holds special significance. On August 21st, 2019, Fasusi’s family embarked on a new chapter in America, and today, five years later, he marks another milestone by choosing the University of Oklahoma, a decision that underscores both his personal growth and his family’s incredible journey.

Fasusi’s decision is a major win for the Sooners, who have secured one of the most highly sought-after talents in the 2025 recruiting class. His commitment adds a formidable force to Oklahoma’s offensive line and brings a blend of physicality and technique that has been the hallmark of his high school career. He credits Bill Bedenbaugh for being a major factor in his recruitment. Not only has Bedenbaugh produced countless NFL lineman, including two 1st rounders the past two seasons, but he made Fasusi feel very comfortable in Norman.

With Fasusi in the fold, Oklahoma’s attention now shifts to solidifying the rest of its 2025 recruiting class. The Sooners are targeting several other high-profile recruits, and Fasusi’s commitment could have a ripple effect, encouraging others to join him in Norman. The Sooners’ coaching staff will continue to emphasize the importance of strengthening the offensive and defensive lines as they prepare for the transition to the SEC.

This is the Sooners’ first five-star commitment in their 2025 recruiting class which helps bump them into the top-10. Fasusi also joins Lewisville offensive lineman Sean Hutton who has been committed to the Sooners for some time now. The Sooners also were able to land elite safety Jaydan Hardy from Lewisville High School from the 2024 cycle so it looks like a talent pipeline could be emerging.
