The University of Florida had a pretty up and down season this year and finished 6-6 on the season. Even with that though the future’s still bright in Gainesville, and it just got a little brighter with their latest commitment. Earlier today five-star quarterback D.J. Lagway announced his commitment to the Florida Gators.
D.J. Lagway is a junior quarterback for Willis High School right outside of the Houston, Texas area. According to 247Sports he is a Top-4 quarterback in the Class of 2024, and the No. 4 recruit in Texas. Lagway holds over 30 offers for both football and baseball including schools like Clemson, LSU & Arkansas. Even though football is his main love, there is definitely a possibility you see Lagway suit up on the diamond as well for Florida.

Lagway also credits the Gators history at the quarterback position as a reason on why he committed. He loves the idea of playing in front of the Gainesville crowd and playing SEC football.
Anthony Richardson has stayed in close contact with Lagway, and seems to have done a good job reeling him in. The two have very similar play styles, which I assume made things a lot easier to envision for the young QB. The Gators also landed a brilliant young quarterback in Jaden Rashada for their ’23 recruiting class. The quarterback position will be in great hands down in Gainesville for the next few seasons.
