The Florida State Seminoles have had an unexpected hot start to the 2022 season. Not only are they 3-0 to many people’s surprise; they also have a pretty solid recruiting class forming. Mike Norvell added to that class Friday evening with his highest rated commitment to date. Five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams announced that he will be joining the Seminoles over schools like Texas A&M & Miami.
Hykeem Williams is currently the No. 4 wide receiver in the Class of 2023, and a Top-25 recruit overall. Williams already stands 6’3, 200-pounds, and plays football & basketball for Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He holds over 30 offers, but only took visits with Florida State, Georgia, and Pittsburgh. Schools like Texas A&M, Miami, and Alabama were all pushing hard for the five-star wide out too. Williams credits the bond between the players, and Coach Dugans’ ability to make you an NFL ready wide out as some of the reasons he chose the Seminoles.
This is obviously a huge get for Mike Norvell, and the Seminoles. Hykeem Williams is the highest rated recruit to commit to Florida State since 2017. Not only is he the highest rated recruit since 2017, WIlliams is the highest rated wide out to come to Tallahassee since George Campbell in 2015. With his commitment this now makes the Seminoles 2023 recruiting class 16th overall according to 247Sports.
Williams joins players like Lucas Simmons and Roderick Kearney on the offensive side of the ball to help flip the culture for Florida State. A few days ago they added four-star linebacker Blake Nichelson to go along with a pretty defensive heavy group of athletes. Hykeem was in New Orleans when Florida State was able to upset the LSU Tigers, and start their hot streak. If they can continue this winning streak Florida State can finally regain some relevance in the ACC on and off the field.
