It looks like Jacksonville native, Marcus Burke, won’t be needing to travel very far to go to college. Tuesday afternoon Burke announced via Twitter he would be staying in state and committed to the University of Florida.
The 4-star receiver has said the Gators were the team to beat since March after attending their Junior Day in Gainesville. Other teams like Penn State and Georgia were in consideration, but ultimately couldn’t surpass Dan Mullen and Co.
Marcus Burke is a 6’3, 180-pound wide receiver who played for Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. According to 247Sports Burke is the No. 40 WR in the Class of 2021, and the 32nd best player in the state of Florida.
Florida is stockpiling the receivers in the Class of 2021. Burke is their 4th 4-star receiver to verbally commit, along with Daejon Reynolds, Charles Montgomery, and Trevonte Rucker. After losing Van Jefferson, Tyrie Cleveland and Freddie Swain to the NFL, along with Trevon Grimes this year, you see why Dan Mullen made such a strong effort to get new talent in.
This is Florida’s second commitment in the month of July, joining 3-star safety Donovan McMillon. The Gators currently have the 10th best recruiting class for the Class of 2021, and the 4th highest class in the SEC.
