Earlier Monday morning the Hugh Freeze and the Liberty Flames received some good news. Former Tennessee quarterback Kaidon Salter is now a part of the Liberty University football team. It was announced earlier today that Salter has transferred and already enrolled at the school.
Kaidon Salter was a four-star quarterback from Cedar Hill High School in Cedar Hill, Texas. He is a 6’1, 190-pound dual-threat quarterback and was a top-25 recruit in Texas during the 2021 recruiting cycle. Salter is one of the most talented recruits to come out of Cedar Hill High School which is a Texas powerhouse.
Back in March Josh Heupel suspended the freshman QB for a different on campus incident. Not long after being reinstated to the team we saw Salter’s name in the news again. This time for a possession of marijuana charge which he got along with teammate Amari McNeill. In late June we saw him dismissed from the program.
This is a huge win for the Liberty Flames even though Kaidon probably won’t make much of an impact this season. With a potential 1st round quarterback in Malik Willis it is very unlikely we see Salter on the field much. He does however give Hugh Freeze someone to carry the torch after Willis is gone to the NFL. Kaidon Salter is currently the highest rated recruit ever in Liberty football history.
