Earlier Wednesday afternoon the University of Texas made headlines after rumors spread about the Longhorns possibly joining the SEC. Right before the day ended, Longhorns nation got some more news about their football program. Four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau announced via social media that he will be decommitting from the University of Texas.
Jaylon Guilbeau is a four-star cornerback out of Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas. He stands right under 6’0, and weighs in at 175-pounds & is a dual-sport athlete for the Titans. According to 247Sports he is a Top-20 cornerback in the Class of 2022, and a Top-30 player in the state of Texas.
This now makes for the fourth recruit to recommit from the Longhorns ‘22 class. Five-stars Evan Stewart and Quinn Ewers both decommitted from Texas already. Three-star wide receiver Phaizon Wilson decommitted the day after Ewers made his announcement.
Where does this put the Longhorns now?
Well this drops Texas’s recruiting ranking down to 10th overall, and back to 2nd in the Big-12. They recently landed four-star DB Austin Jordan, which does make this loss easier. The DB position is going to be very thin after this season though. Not to mention the University of Texas needs to land as much in-state talent as they can if they really want to compete with Oklahoma.
