The LSU Tigers have been putting together an impressive list of commitments for the ‘22 cycle. They already have players like Walker Howard and Will Campbell in the boat who are both top-three recruits at their positions. Thursday afternoon they gained their 11th commitment thus far with Tygee Hill committing to the Tigers.
Tygee Hill is a 6’3, 280-pound defensive tackle out of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is one of the top-20 players in the state of Louisiana, and a top-25 defensive tackle. Hill plays for Edna Karr High School, and helped the Cougars to a 10-2 record last season. They were able to get to the 4A state championships but ultimately lost to Carencro High School.
Hill has gotten offers from 16 schools, and released a top ten list last month. That list included schools like Miami, Florida, and Jackson State. The Tigers have recruited him since his freshman year of high school, and ultimately locked him in with new defensive line head coach Andre Carter.
LSU now has the second overall class in the ‘22 cycle jumping Notre Dame. Walker Howard, and Will Campbell are both five-star commits leading the way. Of course the Tigers have done great at recruiting DBs with four-star cornerbacks Laterrance Welch and JaDarian Rhym already committed too. Tygee Hill is their first defensive tackle this year for the Tigers but that shouldn’t be too surprising. Last year LSU did land the No. 2 DT in the country in five-star Maason Smith, and Jaquelin Roy back in 2020.
Even though it was a rocky 2020 for the Tigers, recruiting has still been top notch. With that being said I would expect a nice rebound in performance next year with a regularly scheduled off-season(Hopefully). Either way LSU will be back on its feet soon, and competing for the SEC Championship once again.
