Four-Star OT Kiyaunta Goodwin Commits to the University of Kentucky

Kiyaunta Goodwin

The University of Kentucky has had a busy weekend of recruiting. Yesterday the Wildcats landed twin four-star athletes in Keaten Wade and Destin Wade giving a big boost to the ‘22 class. Today they added another highly rated recruit in Kiyaunta Goodwin. If his commitment sticks this will be the Wildcats 3rd highest rated recruit in school history.

Kiyaunta Goodwin is a 6’7, 300-pound offensive tackle from Louisville, Kentucky but recently has moved to Charlestown, Indiana. He plays for Charlestown High School where they went 3-7 last season.

In 8th grade Goodwin popped on the scene due to his sheer size. He already weighed a whopping 425-pounds by the time he was 13. Since then he has been working out at the Aspirations Facility in Louisville, Kentucky to bring that weight down to 300-pounds. What might even be more shocking than that is him clocking a 4.9 40-yard dash and benching 225-pounds nearly 30 times.

As you could imagine Goodwin quickly received interest and offers from big name football schools. According to 247Sports over 60 schools have offered Kiyaunta Goodwin, but recently released a top five list last month. That list was Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan State, Kentucky and Alabama

Though the Wildcats recruiting class still ranks 6th in the SEC, it currently is the No. 15 class overall. Kiyaunta Goodwin leads the way along with outside linebacker Keaten Wade and offensive tackle Grant Bingham. Over the years Kentucky has shifted from a basketball school to now being an all around athletic haven for the midwest. If this trend continues we could see the Wildcats take that next step as a football program.
