Notre Dame has been red hot this month and has received three commitments in just one week. A few days ago we saw cornerback Jaden Mickey announce his commitment to the Fighting Irish and now they have just landed another defensive stud. Four-star OLB Joshua Burnham announced his commitment to Notre Dame Wednesday (St. Patrick’s Day) evening.
Joshua Burnham is a four-star outside linebacker from Traverse City Central High School in Traverse City, Michigan. Josh is an all around athlete for the Trojans playing quarterback, outside linebacker, and even punter at times. He also plays on the basketball team for Central High. Burnham is already 6’4, 215-pounds and just turned 17 on the day of his commitment. Many scouts rave about his ability to play all over the field, and his potential at multiple positions.
13 schools have offered Burnham a scholarship including names like Alabama, Cincinnati and Ohio State. His top three schools were Michigan, Wisconsin, and of course Notre Dame. He grew up a Michigan Wolverines fan, but ultimately the Fighting Irish won over the talented backer.
This now gives Notre Dame a whopping 11 commitments already for their ‘22 recruiting class. His commitment also pushes Notre Dame’s ‘22 class to No. 2 overall, jumping LSU by a point. Josh is the leader of the pack with four-star edge rusher Tyson Ford and four-star offensive tackle Joey Tanona right behind him. This is a very underrated class so far, even if it is the No. 2 overall class.
