Someone needs to rescue Sam Darnold from the New York Jets, and fast.
This Sunday the Jets took on the Colts in what turned out to be a bloodbath for the visiting team. Three interceptions, two pick sixes, a safety and seven QB hits later, the Indianapolis Colts walked away with a 36-7 victory over the Jets.
Once the Jets received the opening kickoff, it didn’t take long for things to snowball. Just 2:25 into the 1st quarter Darnold threw his first pick six to Xavier Rhodes. The former Viking snagged two interceptions on the day, one being returned 44-yards for the touchdown.
The New York Jets would respond back with a 14-play scoring drive to tie the game 7-7. Sam Darnold would complete a 16-yard pass to Braxton Berrios for the touchdown. Sadly though it would all go down hill from here for the Jets.
Indianapolis would go on to score 29 unanswered points, completely overwhelming the New York Jets. Four different Colts receivers finished with at least three receptions on the day, including T.Y. Hilton, Mo Alie-Cox, and Michael Pittman Jr.
Philip Rivers had a pedestrian day on paper with 217 yards and a touchdown pass, but accomplished much more than that. Rivers would become the sixth player in NFL history to record 400 career passing touchdowns and the sixth to have 60,000 career passing yards.
Indianapolis will try to carry their momentum into Week 4 against the 3-0 Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. New York will take on the Denver Broncos this Thursday at MetLife Stadium.
