Few commitments seemed like locks, but Jake Garcia to Miami might have been the strongest locks on the board. The four-star quarterback announced earlier Wednesday that he will be attending the University of Miami (FL).
Jake Garcia is a 6’2, 195-pound quarterback from the Los Angeles, California area. 247Sports rates him as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2021and the 5th best recruit in Georgia. While the Hurricanes won over Jake Garcia, Florida State and Arkansas were also in consideration.
A once USC commit, Garcia decommitted from the Trojans a few weeks ago to continue his recruitment. After it was announced that California High School football would not be played due to COVID-19 ruling, Garcia’s family moved from California to Georgia. He would transfer to Valdosta High School but due to being ruled ineligible transferred once more to Grayson High School.
Miami currently has the No. 10 recruiting class in 2021, which is headlined by five-star defensive tackle Leonard Taylor. Garcia will have plenty of options to throw to as well with four-star receivers Romello Brinson, Jacolby George, and Brashard Smith all being committed to the Hurricanes too.
Garcia is the highest rated quarterback to commit to the Hurricanes since Kyle Wright in 2004. The Canes are coming off a tough loss to UNC last weekend, but landing Jake Garcia spells well for the future of that match up.
