Could this be what the Hurricanes need to start a Miami’s re-surgeness?
Tuesday afternoon we saw American Heritage safety, James Williams, commit to the University of Miami (FL). This is the Hurricanes first 5-star in the Class of 2021, and they’re highest rated prospect since 2007.
Williams the 247Sports No. 1 ATH and the 11th overall prospect in ’21. He currently plays safety and wide receiver at American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida. He chose Miami over schools like Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State.
Coming in at 6’5, 218-pounds Williams is no ordinary safety. 247Sports Barton Simmons compares his ability to just do whatever needed to newly drafted Arizona Cardinal, Isaiah Simmons.
“I think the thing that separates him is his football IQ. I know he has all the measurables, but his understanding of football at this age is something pretty special”

Last May we saw the 5-star prospect de-commit to Miami in order to enjoy the recruiting process. Hurricane fans can thank Justin Hodges, a 2020 Miami prospect, for getting Williams to re-commit to Miami. Hodges would later de-commit as well, and end up signing with UCF.
This pushes Miami’s 2021 recruiting right outside the top 10 at 11th overall and 3rd overall in the ACC. James Williams will join other commits like Jabari Ishmael, and Romello Brinson.
