Jayden Daniels Announces his Decision to Transfer to LSU

The LSU Tigers had a wild 2021 season. Between an up & down performance on the field, a question mark at quarterback and the coaching change with Brian Kelly. Since the coaching change however the Tigers have already seen a pretty positive up swing. Not only did they steal one of the top recruits in the nation with Harold Perkins, they now just landed one of the top transfer quarterbacks from this offseason. Jayden Daniels announced via Instagram that he will be heading East of Tempe to Baton Rouge.

Jayden Daniels has thrown for over 6,000 yards, and 32 touchdowns in his career at Arizona State. The Sun Devils have been 18-13 while he has been the starting QB. Off the field they have had a pretty rough 12 months too.

Back in June of 2021 major recruiting violations surfaced involving Herm Edwards & the football team. They were supposedly visiting and hosting recruits during the COVID-19 dead period. While this was going down Arizona State went 8-4, but not without a lot of turnover. Multiple coaches, including Antonio Pierce, have since left/resigned from the program. Herm Edwards has miraculously kept his job thus far but is pretty much the only one left on staff.

Multiple coaches have left the staff since these allegations have emerged. Even Jayden Daniels’ mother was publicly dragged into the mess. Since then the former four-star quarterback dipped into the transfer portal and found a new home in Baton Rouge.

This now gives the Tigers quite an interesting quarterback room. We have the two guys who were expected to battle for the QB1 spot already, Myles Brennan & Garrett Nussmeier. Myles showed to be a solid quarterback option but has struggled to stay healthy during his career. Nussmeier is a talented quarterback coming out of Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas. With Jayden Daniels now coming into the mix it looks like someone may get the short end of the stick at LSU.
