Keller Central Stuns University High 43-17

The Chargers wasted no time making a statement in their season opener Friday night, rolling past the Trojans with a dominant 43–17 win at Keller ISD Stadium. Keller Central bounced back from last year’s struggles (1–9 in 2024) with an explosive start, while Waco University fell to 0–1 after a tough showing on the road.
Junior running back Spencer Martin was electric, rushing for 178 yards and four touchdowns, including a 45-yard strike that broke a 14–14 tie late in the second quarter. His performance not only swung the game but also gave early momentum to the Chargers’ offense.
Keller Central’s ground game remained relentless all night. The Chargers piled up 293 rushing yards on 40 carries—while also managing 123 passing yards thanks to quarterback Isaiah Taylor, who added a passing touchdown and contributed 52 rushing yards on 10 carries. Wide-open field and sustained drives wore the Trojans down.

An interception by Luke Hamilton set up Martin’s go-ahead touchdown, and the defense took over from there—holding Waco University scoreless after the first quarter and limiting them to just three points the rest of the game.
Keller Central stays hot as they prepare to face Grand Prairie next—another opportunity to showcase their offensive versatility. Waco University will return home to take on Granbury, looking to get their first win of the season.
