Things are looking real bad in Knoxville right now. Just a day after firing their head coach, Tennessee is set to lose their highest rated recruit in 2021. Five-star defensive end Dylan Brooks has requested his release from his NLI with the Volunteers. Brooks signed on with Tennessee during the Early Signing Period.
Brooks now joins the ever growing list of major talent leaving the Vols program currently. Former five-star offensive tackle, Wanya Morris, just announced that he will be transferring to the University of Oklahoma. Morris was one of Jeremy Pruitt’s highest rated prospects to commit during his time with the school.
Since Pruitts firing starting linebackers Henry To’oTo’o, and Quavaris Crouch have both entered the transfer portal. This mean Tennessee will have replace two huge leaders of their defense. Running back Eric Gray & offensive tackle Jahmir Johnson have also entered the transfer portal as of Wednesday afternoon.
Players like Jarrett Guarantanto, Ty Chandler & J.T. Shrout have already transferred from the school as well. 14 players have currently entered the transfer portal as of Dec. 1st. 11 of those 14 players were starters in 2020 and 13 have started at one point in their careers.
The Volunteers 2021 recruiting class is currently No. 15 in the nation but should fall heavily with Brooks leaving. Aaron Willis and Kaemen Marley are now the highest recruits in Tennessee’s class. By the time this is all over Tennessee will have to rebuild from the ground up. They will have a bare roster and must now re-work themselves back into the SEC spotlight.
