Leave it to Le’Veon Bell and the New York Jets to make headlines in the middle of a game they aren’t even participating in. Tuesday night ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Jets have released their All-Pro running back Le’Veon Bell.
Bell was essentially on the trading block as soon as he landed in New York. Just days after signing the former Steeler the Jets announced they had fired GM Mike Maccagnan. After that, head coach Adam Gase would name the GM as well. A rift between him and Adam Gase began from the get go, making for some rather awkward moments for the offense.
Just earlier in the week it was reported Bell had liked some tweets that criticized the offensive play calling from the New York Jets. After failing to find a single trade partner, the Jets were forced to just cut ties with Le’Veon Bell and move forward.
In 2019 New York brought in Le’Veon Bell on a four-year deal worth over $52 million. $27 million of that sum was guaranteed. He played 17 games since that signing and has rushed for 863 yards and three touchdowns and caught 69 receptions for 500 yards and a touchdown.
