North Shore High School Advances Past Dawson High School 38-7

MaxPrep’s No. 2 team in the nation was in action this Thursday evening against Dawson High School. The North Shore Mustangs looked to move to 12-0 on their quest for a three-peat at the State title. Even with social distancing in effect, the crowd was still packed for this Texas High School football showdown.

Dawson High School got the first crack at scoring, but the Mustangs defense wouldn’t allow it. The Eagles would be forced to punt, giving Dematrius Davis and this elite Mustang offense the ball. North Shore would show an even amount of running and passing as they drove down the field. At the eight yard line, on 2nd & goal, Dematrius Davis would take it in himself for the touchdown.

After the Mustangs would take a 7-0 lead, the game would see back to back punts. With under a minute left in the first quarter the Eagles were looking to find points. However North Shore’s defense would remind people just how complete this team is. After applying pressure on Collin Johnson, Jacoby Davis would intercept a pass and take it 57-yards to the house.

Heading into the second quarter North Shore would hold a 14-0 lead over Dawson. The Eagles would break off a few solid runs in a row, and end up inside the red-zone. Once again though this North Shore defense would bow up and prevent points from being scored. Dawson would see back to back to back negative plays, resulting in a turnover on downs for the Eagles.

The Mustangs would put up a slew of positive plays, and convert a 4th & 18 on the next drive. Dawson High School showed us that there were two great defenses on the field tonight. After David Amador got the Mustangs to the two-yard line, the Eagles would force North Shore to a field goal.

Dawson High School suddenly are in a very sticky situation against the North Shore Mustangs. Down 17, the Eagles hoped to find some points before halftime but there would be no luck. The Mustangs stuffed the Eagles, and forcing them to punt the ball back to North Shore with roughly three minutes in the half. The very next play Davis would complete a quick pass to Jhalyn Bailey who would take it 55-yards for a touchdown. At halftime the score was 24-0, all North Shore

North Shore would receive the kickoff for the second half, and pick up right where they left off. Dematrius Davis would complete another deep strike to David Amador that would put the ball at the Dawson 27-yard line. Davis would cap off the drive with a four-yard touchdown run, his second of the night.

Even though they were down 31-0 at this point, the Eagles seemed to find some hope in the game. Jaden Stewart and Torrance Burgess Jr would get the Eagles inside North Shore’s five-yard line due to two big runs. Just like earlier though the Mustangs red zone defense would prove to be too much. They would force another turnover on downs after sacking Johnson at the 14-yard line.

Shadrach Banks would get into the end zone before the night was over, bringing the final score to 38-7. Dematrius Davis finished the game with three total touchdowns, and David Amador had another 100-yard receiving game.

On Christmas Eve the North Shore Mustangs get to take on Katy Tompkins High School in a Regional Playoff match-up. The Falcons are 10-0 on the season, and a Top 25 team in the nation according to MaxPreps. The future of the Iron Bowl will be played as Dematrius Davis is committed to Auburn, and Jalen Milroe is committed to Alabama.

Possible Game of the Week match-up? I think so!
