Ohio State Lands 4-Star CB Jordan Hancock

It has been a little bit of a wild ride to say the least for Jordan Hancock and his recruitment. Less than a week ago we saw Hancock de-commit from Clemson University after being committed to the school since March.

Jordan Hancock is a 6’0, 170-pound cornerback from Suwanee, Georgia and plays football for North Gwinnett High School. According to 247SPorts he is a 4-star prospect, the No. 6 CB, and the No. 9 player in the state of Georgia.

After about four months of being committed to Clemson, Hancock realized he was second guessing his commitment. He felt “frustrated” and his parents even said it would noticeably effect his mood. He had mentioned that he wasn’t fully “All-in” with the Tigers, thus why he felt the need to decommit from the school.

Ohio State looked to be the school to beat before he committed to Clemson, and were recruiting him hard via Twitter ever since his de-commitment. Yesterday he tweeted out he had made his decision and has been talking a lot back and forth with 5-star running back TreVeyon Henderson.

The No. 6 cornerback in the nation took to Twitter to commit to Ohio State University. This gives the Buckeyes their 12th ESPN 100 recruit, and stacks this recruiting class even deeper and into rare territory.

Hancock had made a lot of key relationships with not just other ‘21 Ohio State commits, but the coaching staff too. The future Buckeye mentioned how he had spoken with roughly 10 coaches on the Ohio State staff. He said that they were the first big school to offer him, even while he was still just a 3-star recruit.

The Buckeyes ability to consistently make 1st Round NFL cornerbacks was a big factor as well. Ohio State’s Coach Coombs told him he only recruits 1st Round talent, and he sees that in Hancock.

“My favorite things about Ohio State is the brotherhood & their rich tradition of great football.”

Another factor was just the fact he would most likely see the field and make his impact early on for the Buckeyes. Coach Coombs has told him he would like to have him play in the slot corner role that Shaun Wade had previously done so well in.

It looks like the rich keep getting richer, and I dont think that story is going to change anytime soon for Ohio State. This is the first time since 2017 the Buckeyes have gotten two cornerbacks in ESPN’s Top-100 players. The last duo they got? Jeff Okudah and Shaun Wade.
