The Oregon Ducks are already starting to see the after effects of getting your coach poached from you. Fresh off losing head coach Mario Cristobal to the University of Miami the Ducks just had three major recruits announce their decommitments. Kelvin Banks, Tanner Bailey, and T.J. Dudley all decommitted via social media on Monday.
Before these decommitments the Ducks had the No. 9 recruiting class in the nation. Now it drops to 12th, and should be expected to drop even further. Three-star offensive tackle Cameron Williams expressed how he felt about Cristobal’s departure via his Instagram story. Other commits such as Landon Hullaby and Stephon Johnson have also exchanged some cryptic tweets with Texas Tech commit Jalon Peoples.
Kelvin Banks is a five-star offensive tackle out of Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas. He is the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle and a Top-15 recruit in the ‘22 cycle. Tanner Bailey is a four-star quarterback out of Gordo High School and is considered to be one of the Top-15 quarterbacks in the 2022 class. T.J. Dudley is a four-star linebacker and another Top-12 prospect from Alabama.
As of right now none of these athletes are expected to follow Cristobal to his new job. Kelvin Banks will now end up at either the University of Texas or Texas A&M more than likely. As of right now the Hurricanes have only lost one recruit in their ‘22 recruiting class. Just like for Oregon, I would expect more to decommit as well but it won’t be nearly as bad as what we see in Eugene.
