And just like that, he’s gone. Just four months after announcing his commitment to the University of Texas, Quinn Ewers announced via Twitter earlier Wednesday evening that he will be de-committing from the Longhorns. Ewers is a five-star quarterback and currently the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2022.
This comes just three weeks exactly from Billy Bowman’s decommitment from the Texas Longhorns. Bowman is a four-star athlete (No. 3 in the nation) who plays cornerback and wide receiver at Denton Ryan Highschool.
It is no secret that the Texas Longhorns football is struggling as a whole. After back to back losses to TCU and Oklahoma and nearly losing to Texas Tech before that, the Longhorns are a shell of what they used to be. Head coach Todd Herman is on the hot seat, and pretty much everything about the University of Texas football team is under uncertainty.
Plenty of schools are going to be in the mix for the Southlake Carroll product. Ohio State and Oklahoma were both heavily in the mix before his original commitment, and I imagine they will be once again. Billy Bowman is already rumored to be heavily favoring the Oklahoma Sooners. Caleb Burton, an Ohio State lean according to 247Sports.com, has already begun his recruiting via Twitter.
