Southlake Carroll continues to put up impressive offensive numbers behind the V8 engine that is Quinn Ewers. The 2-2 Byron Nelson High School Bobcats would face off against the 1-1 Southlake Carroll Dragons in a Texas High School showdown on Thursday night. The Dragons scored eight touchdowns on the night, and had nearly 500 yards of total offense.
After losing in a shoot-out to Rockwall last Friday the Dragons came out hot in the first half. Southlake would fumble the ball on back to back plays, allowing the game to stay within reaching distance for Byron Nelson. That wouldn’t last long. Thanks to a 45-yard touchdown pass with 21 seconds left in the half, the Dragons went into the locker room with a 29-7 lead.
Ewers wouldn’t even be able to finish the 3rd quarter before being pulled out of the game for Hunter Holden. The Southlake offense wouldn’t skip a beat, continuing to rack up the points against the Bobcats.
Quinn Ewers finished the game with 222 yards passing and four total touchdowns. He wasn’t the only player on Southlake that had a great night though. Sophomore running back Owen Allen rushed 156 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Landon Samson, up-and-coming junior receiver, led the way for Southlake with five receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Next Friday Southlake Carroll will look to continue their hot streak against Keller High School.
