Sunday evening the Baltimore Ravens throttled the Cleveland Browns 38-6. The Ravens looked ready to bounce back from an embarrassing early exit from last year’s playoffs. From the first snap the Ravens had their foot on the gas pedal, and didn’t let off till the end of the 4th.
Lamar Jackson picked up right where he left off, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns and completing 20 of his 25 pass attempts. The reigning MVP also added 45 rushing yards too, which led the team.
He completed a pass to seven different targets, two of those completions went to Mark Andrews for 5 and 9 yard touchdowns. Marquise Brown led the way with five receptions for 101 yards while Willie Snead IV caught all four of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Baltimore’s defense was what really impressed me though. This time last year Nick Chubb rushed for 165 yards and three touchdowns. On Sunday they held him to just 60 yards rushing, and kept him out the end zone as well. The Ravens 1st round selection, Patrick Queen, had a team high eight total tackles, a sack, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble in his NFL debut.
Baker Mayfield had yet another extremely mediocre performance, completing 54% of his passes for 189 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Jarvis Landry led the team with five receptions for 67 yards and David Njoku caught the only Browns touchdown of the game.
The Baltimore Ravens (1-0) will fly down to Houston, Texas to take on the Texans (0-1) at 3:25 PM next Sunday. The Cleveland Browns (0-1) will take on the Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) for the Battle of Ohio on Thursday Night Football at 7:20 PM.
